Hip Hop Dancing

Hip hop dancing is an urban ethnic dance form that has gained popularity in recent days. It is more common than the break dance of modern days. Hip hop dancing marked its beginning as part of the hip hop culture in the early 1900's, when the youth in and around Bronx, New York started dancing on the streets.

Hip hop dancing is an ideal way to express one's creativeness. It features self impressions and the dances come from the soul. The dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music. There is breaking, popping, locking, and free styling in hip hop dances. The jumps, breakages, and rotations in the movements are combined in such a way that the dance style becomes an informal and explosive one.

Hip hop dancing is considered a good exercise for those persons who perform these dances. It helps the dancers to improve flexibility, to develop body balance, and to coordinate the muscles. This dance allows the dancers to improve their own style and to remain in good body shape. It also leads the dancers to a state of spiritual wholeness.

Hip Hop Dancing

Hip hop dancing includes many steps and movements that are not present in ballet and ballroom dancing. The jazz, ballet, and other traditional dance forms are technical and require more formal training. There is a term for each and every movement in jazz and ballets. But this is not the case with hip hop dancing and the dancers experience freedom while dancing. The only thing the dancers should have is to become familiar with the dancing technique.

Hip hop dancing can be learned by all those who are interested in dancing. There is no age limitation or restriction for learners and dancers. It is also not necessary that the instructor should be a professional dancer. However, this kind of dance is slightly difficult to learn because of the various body movements.

Music Notes Review - Instant Sheet Music Download

When looking for tab for Steve McQueen by Sheryl Crow to play with my band I found three or four different tabs, but none of them agreed and none covered all the guitar parts of the song. I continued searching and happened across a digital download and print version on Music Notes. This review relates my experience with the service.

Music Notes is an on-line store that sells sheet music for over 100,000 titles you can download and print instantly. It also proposes a large number of titles for their free Guitar Guru software that allows you to learn and play the music on an animated fretboard shown on your computer screen.

Site Interface and Software

Music Notes Review - Instant Sheet Music Download

The site interface is clear and easy to use with a good search feature that makes it easy to find songs. One nice feature is that you get to see the first page of scores so you can see if the arrangement is suited to what you're after (easy chords, detailed tab, standard notation...).

To preview and print music you need plug-in software for your web browser. Music Notes site detected automatically the right software for my computer and browser. I downloaded the full Music Notes Suite and the install was quick and trouble free. The suite includes the Guitar Guru software.

Purchase

Purchasing music is easy with the familiar shopping cart style and payment via Paypal was smooth, credit cards are also supported.

The purchased music is displayed for printing immediately, or if you wish you can print it later thanks to the download link displayed in the confirmation email. Music Notes allows you several goes to download and print the music, some sites I looked at offer only one chance to download and print your music.

I used a PDF printer driver installed on my PC to print to a PDF file instead of paper. This lets you view the music on-screen without printing if you wish, or you can easily reprint a copy if the original gets worn or lost.

Prices

All titles on Music Notes site seem to be priced at .25, with Guitar Guru versions at more (on special offer at more when I made my purchase). You can get volume discounts up to 20% if you buy 6 or more scores at once.

I found other sites - Sheet Music Direct or Sheet Music Score for example - that offer similar sheet music for between .99 and .95 depending on the arrangement. But neither of these sites have as large an offer as Music Notes and I didn't find title I was after. For example, Sheet Music Direct has only ten Sheryl Crow titles for download.

Guitar Guru

I found the Guitar Guru version to be excellent value. It includes more than the printed transcription with parts for all three guitars in detail (the printed sheet music has only two guitar parts).

The animated fretboard and tempo control made it easy to learn and perfect any of the parts, and I found it much faster than working with the tab.

Conclusion

Overall my experience with Music Notes was a good one. The site was easy to use and the purchase, download and printing all went smoothly.

I was happy to purchase an official, legal version of the song and I'm sure I'll repeat the experience again for other songs.

I'll probably shop around to compare prices when titles are available elsewhere, popular titles can be found for up to five times less on other sites. But the wide choice and Guitar Guru will ensure that I'll happily return to Music Notes again.

Does Power 90 Work? An Honest Review

In 2001 personal trainer Tony Horton released 'Power 90' through Beachbody, a fitness company dedicated to delivering at-home workout routines. Power 90 was so successful that in 2004 Tony Horton released P90X, a program that has gone on to sell 2 million units, become a household name and favorite celebrity workout. However, even as P90X claimed the spotlight, Power 90 continued to sell, and today remains one of the most popular at-home fitness programs on the market. In this article we ask: has Power 90 remained a relevant workout? Can it deliver outstanding results? Has it not been superseded by P90X?

First a brief overview of the Power 90 workout itself: meant to take 90 days, the workout is designed to pass you through 4 stages of gradually increasing intensity as you cycle through six distinct workouts contained on 2 DVD's. These workouts consist of two 'Sculpt Circuit' workouts, two 'Sweat Cardio' workouts and two 'Ab Ripper' routines. The onus is on the user to decide when they are ready to transition from one difficulty level to the next; Power 90 clearly states that you need to listen to your own body and progress at your own rate.

The actual workouts are quite brief. The longest runs at Sculpt and Sweat workouts range from 29 to 42 minutes, while the ab routines are very brief, ranging from 4 to 6 minutes. Anybody familiar with the P90X workout will recognize the components that go into each of these routines. Sweat Cardio begins with yoga as a warm up, and then continues into a variety of cardio exercises including martial art strikes that culminate in a stretch/yoga cool down. The Sculpt Circuit also begins with some stretching and light yoga, and then proceeds through a weight resistance routine that is demonstrated with both free weights and resistance bands. As such, they progress through a mix of different styles and workouts in their 40 minute durations.

Does Power 90 Work? An Honest Review

What is immediately apparent upon watching these workouts is that they do not have the intensity or production values of P90X. The setting is a bland, featureless studio space and you will definitely want your own music playing to keep you pumped. The workouts themselves are simply not as extreme as those in P90X, given that not only is their duration brief but the actual exercises will fit within the upper reaches of most people's comfort levels.

Is this a bad thing? No. Of course having a beautiful stage with all the props and effects such as P90X boasts of is more impressive, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the workout. The only effect such a cheesy setup has is to make it more difficult to take the workouts as seriously. However, anybody who is serious about getting physical results should be able to look past this early iteration of a Beachbody product made when the company was still young, and focus on the exercises themselves.

It is important to note that P90X and Power 90 are meant for different audiences. P90X is literally an extreme program, and should only be attempted by those in already good physical condition. This is not meant to be a provocative statement designed to sting your pride and goad you into 'manning' up, but rather the plain truth. P90X is very, very hard, and just as somebody setting out on learning how to run should not adopt an Olympic marathon routine, novices and those who have not exercised in some time should not attempt P90X.

Instead, Power 90 is the perfect program for them. This is where Power 90's moderate intensity level is of value. While anybody can push their workouts while undertaking this routine to their personal maximum and thus achieve greater results, Power 90 is a more flexible routine that lends itself to a greater variety of athletes and people.

In conclusion: the principles behind Power 90 are solid. If you follow the workouts and the nutrition guide for three months, you should achieve impressive results. The degree of results will depend on your dedication and effort; Power 90 will tell you how to achieve them, but it will fall on you to do the exercises and eat correctly. Has it been superseded by P90X? No. It is the logical precursor to P90X, and should be seen as a challenging routine for all people interested in going from a beginning or mid-level of fitness to a more advanced position. What is required on your part is that you set aside ego and pride and ask yourself where you are at, and how best to achieve the results you desire. Some athletes can jump right into P90X, while the rest of us have to earn that level of requisite fitness. Which is exactly where Power 90 fits into the picture.

There Virtual World Review - Create an Avatar & Life Out a Virtual Existence in a Fantastical World

With the success of Second Life, virtual reality simulations have come into their own in the past 5 years. Promising users an experience that transcends the limitations of real life, a virtual reality sim lets you be whatever you want to be right from the comfort of your own home. No wonder that the number of these virtual worlds/simulations has increased exponentially in the past few years.

There is a virtual world where you can create your own avatar and roam around in a 3D world populated by other There.com members. You can interact with other members, build your own houses, dress up your characters, buy stuff for them, etc. In other words, There aims to create an online identity for yourself that reflects the real you, or, as There.com itself puts it, be "everything you've imagined and wished for".

There is actually a downloadable application (around 500MB in size) that runs on your desktop. The system requirements are quite low and if you bought your PC within the past 2 years, you shouldn't have any problem running There.com.

There Virtual World Review - Create an Avatar & Life Out a Virtual Existence in a Fantastical World

There works on a membership model. Basic membership to the virtual world is free, but you have to shell out money for premium features like voice chat, or to buy virtual goods such as houses, clothing, accessories, etc.

Once you install the There.com application and become a member, you will be prompted to create your avatar. This 3D avatar will be your physical representation in the virtual world, and you have access to a wide variety of templates to pick from when making your avatar. You can dress up the model from a few different sets of clothing and accessories. Later on in the game, you can buy different items for your avatar to trick out his appearance.

After your avatar is created, you can basically walk around the various environments (desert, tropical paradise, city, town, etc.) chatting up with other members. If you have a premium membership, you can even voice chat with your fellow There.com users. There essentially works like a somewhat surreal simulation of real life; you will meet a wide variety of people in the virtual world, all dressed as wildly as you can possibly imagine.

Where There.com really shines is in its creation of a living, breathing world. You can buy and furnish your own house (and even put it up for rent), go shopping for shoes and clothing, buy yourself a car (or design your own ride), hold an exhibition of your 'art' (which you can later sell for Therebucks - There.com's virtual currency), create your own virtual movies, and lots, lots more. The way you interact with other members and the world around you makes for a delightful experience, and it is not extra ordinary to strike up deep and meaningful friendships with people halfway across the globe.

However, in terms of pure features and interactivity potential, There cannot hold a candle to Second Life. Although these are two completely different beasts (Second Life is more of a virtual reality simulation, while There is more chat and people oriented), comparisons to Second Life are inevitable, if unfair.

In terms of graphics, There does not match up to the latest PC games such as Call of Duty 4. Nonetheless, the "game" still looks quite good and runs very smoothly on even old PCs. There's servers are more than capable of handling the load of several thousand players, and there is hardly any lag while playing the game.

Users concerned about privacy issues will have to just buckle up and go with the flow. A virtual world, by default, does not endear itself to privacy, and There is no different. Although you can block individual users (or groups of users), it is very easy for other members to see what you've been up to in the game. Paranoid people should best avoid this game.

In conclusion, There is a great virtual world that excels in its handling of chat and people-to-people interactions. If you are looking for something more complex and demanding, you might be disappointed with the limited features that There offers, but for those of you looking to meet new people without all the hassles of a virtual life simulation, There is the perfect tool.

How to Sing Good - You Don't Have to Be Born With a Great Voice to Sing Good!

Music seems to surround us wherever we turn. It is in the background of your favorite movie, it is playing in your car, and you daily work life seems rather empty without it. However, not all of the singers that you hear were instantly great. Instead, many of them had to learn how to sing good. What this shows is that if you have ever dreamed of creating your own music you can with a bit of hard work.

The first thing that you need to decide is what does it mean to you to learn how to sing good? Good singing can mean many different things to many different people. For example, are you aiming to be a classical singer? Would you rather sing Broadway show tunes? Or are you hoping to become a recording artist? Each of these requires a different type of study, but there is one common thread that ties them together and that is the need for basic singing technique.

When you first begin to learn how to sing good you must start with basic breathing. The truth is that most adults breathe incorrectly. In fact, did you know that the only position that your body will allow you to breathe wrong in is standing? This means that you are going to have to fight off some bad habits. To breathe properly you need to be using your diaphragm. Many people who are breathing wrong tend to allow their shoulders to rise as they take in air. This means that you are only getting shallow shoulder breaths. Instead, you want to try to feel your belly and back expand as you take in air. This deep belly breathing will help you to sing better.

How to Sing Good - You Don't Have to Be Born With a Great Voice to Sing Good!

The next step in how to sing good is to look at how you are forming the words as you sing. You must realize that you do not sing on the consonants. Instead singers sing on vowel sounds so you want to be sure that you are forming those properly. For example if you are making an "ooo" sound you do not want your mouth to form the shape that you would make for "ewww." Often taking a look at your reflection in a mirror as you make these sounds is the best way to learn what your mouth is doing.

Additionally, placement is important. Generally voices have two different registers. Women have chest and head voice whereas men have full voice and falsetto. Essentially chest and full voices are comparable while head voice and falsetto are similar. Chest and full voice are typically what you use to sing the lower notes and for a more full bodied sound. Falsetto and head voice are often used for higher notes or a lighter quality. Each of these registers require for your to put your sound placement in a different spot.
